Common causes of high water bills

Recently my water bill went up extremely high. What may be the reasons?

Scott Gamron Staff

Sometimes the culprit in a high water bill is the toilet. Check and make sure it is not running continuously. Many times the water is going over the top of the overflow tube and the valve does not shut off. There is sometimes a small screw on top of the valve that can be adjusted to shut the water off earlier.
