What’s the white substance that appears to grow on the showerhead and faucets?

Scott Gamron Staff

The buildup you can see growing on your shower head and faucets is caused by mineral deposits sometimes known as hard water. You can get rid of these deposits by placing some vinegar inside a plastic bag and put it over the showerhead or faucet.

It may be tied on with some line or a garbage bag twist tie. Leave it on overnight and then the next day removes the bag and clean the showerhead or faucet using a small brush or old toothbrush to get rid of the remaining deposits.
